| OMG! I heard this song on the radio for the first time today, and I cried my eyes out. My mom looked over at me and asked me why I was so upset... I just kept on saying, he is just a stupid boy. I guess that she just does not realize what I am going through right now. Yes, she does know that my boyfriend and I have just broken up, 2 days before Valentine's Day. He mentally abused me for about 4 months and I guess I have never realized that I could have walked away from that relationship and found a guy that I really deserved. He told me about 3 weeks ago that he cheated on me with his ex-girlfriend, I gave him a second chance because I was afraid that he was the only person out there for me. Well, about 2 weeks ago he accused me of being infatuated and broke up with me. It hurt because I gave him everything! He was my first serious boyfriend, I gave him everything! I let him go out with his friends, no questions asked... because I trusted him! I shouldn't of though. I helped him out of his depression and stuck with him through the medicine that confused him and made him plain ole mean. I realize how these meds do this to people, I have been on them too. I know how hard times can get, my last ex left me when I went to rehab for depression and I decided that I would not do the same. It was hard for me to do this, but I know how hard it is to feel like you have nobody. And apparently my love, trust, and devotion was not enough for him... he threw me around like a dirty kitchen rag and told me that I was worth nothing and that I was no good. He told me that my dreams were not realistic (I want to be an E.R. doctor... how is that not realistic??) It just hurts. Even now that we are broken up he still treats me like a dirty rag! We are not even dating anymore, leave me alone you stupid boy! |

| I love this song not so much because anything like this has ever happened to me (I have a wonderful husband of nearly 20 years and he's my everything), but becauce I think this kind of thing goes on all the time. Not only with the guys doing the control thing, but also the women as well. Any human being who attempts to control somebody like that should def. get what the song talks about in the end. And anybody who is in a relationship where they feel like a caged bird needs to be strong and leave. It won't get better--only worse. The trait that causes a person to become a control freak, unfortunately, doesn't just didappear because he/she is afraid they may loose somebody if they don't stop--they have been hurt themselves somewhere in their own lives, and it's their own insecurities which cause them to use control and manipulation as a method of securing what they feel is rightfully theirs. So many people, likewise, are allowing themselves to be abused in this way because of their own insecurities as well. They feel that if they just take the guff, the controller will be happy with them and life will be just jolly. HA! Run away as fast as you can from controllers, because they won't change no matter how loud they cry and much they promise!! |
