| I have to strongly disagree with ishtar. this is one of the best songs on the slbum. I think the reason some people don't like this song is beacuse it's different than any of the songs on Fallen. People like that should just grow up and expand the music they listen to. I know evanescence did. I so love this song. listening to it right now. HEAVEN SHINE A LIGHT ON ME! |

| I never said it was a bad song, I said it was badly mixed; huge difference heh. It actually is a good song, but all we can hear is her whiny voice and the guitars, while the piano and violins should be much lounder. We can barely hear the drums under the way-too-loud guitar. Having a good song and mixing it properly are too entirely different things. And you're the one talking about growing up and expanding their music? *sigh* Obviously you dont know much about music. |

| The mix is fine-it supplys the groove. Im sure thats thats the way they wanted to come accross. They feel their sound. It is true mix can kill the sound (ie bob rocks influence on metallica)They hear it their own way. thats what gives them their flavor. Whiny voice?? That girl sings from her heart. Knowing about music and feeling music are two differnt things also. (thats what kills band also) |

| In some sense I agree with Ishtar. The guitar is a little loud, and louder drums would maybe have supportet this "march of Gods forgotten children" better - that's how the refrain seems to me to be ment.
Aside of this little flaw I suppose this one to be the best song on "The Open Door", sung right from a breaking heart. |

| I think it sounds like she found God. "All your lies I'm not believing" refers to the world, materiality, the devil. "The world beneath you" is hell.
That's just my interpretation. . .Strengthened by the fact that she refers to God in "Weight of the World" and, on Fallen, "Tourniquet."
I could be wrong; it's just what I see in the song. |

| I think this song isn't about religion at all, but about those who won't shut up about their problems. I know that sounds terrible and all, but think about it! "When they all come crashing down- midflight, you know you're not the only one." It basically tells the person to stop complaining, you're not the only unhappy person out there. "All our lives/we've been waiting/for someone to call our leader" means that all our lives we've been wanting someone different, somebody who doesn't try to inflict their misery on others.
That's just what I feel when I hear this song. I'm probably wrong. |

I'm sorry, but I couldn't help noticing that statement. The whole album is most definately not about her boyfriend. Lithium is about manic depression/bipolar disorder. Snow White Queen is about those who stalked her when she was on tour. Like You is about her sister, Bonnie. Your Star is about when she was staying in Lisbon and couldn't see the sky (although this first idea was mixed with other thoughts). Lose Control is a sex song (she admitted to that). Good Enough is about her feelings towards her fans and how she feels she may not be "good enough".
Some of those came from my mind, some of those were defined by Amy herself. |

| A very intense song. But why is Amy so intense. Who is this guy who thinks he's the Only One? He is supposed the great leader they are waiting for. He is a liar and somehow holds great sway on the masses. But the key is the message at the beginning of the song. Someone says "What we're they saying? I do not know. Then he laughs. The written lyrics admit that great tragedy(s) has occured and people "took a back door out of life." What were they saying before they left? This all sounds like Revelation 6-12 leading up the great leader, the beast in Chapter 13. |

| I downloaded this albulm off iTunes and a video interview with band was included: Call Me When You're Sober = Obvious meaning but she referred to getting out of a bad relationship; Sweet Sacrifice is also about her relationship and bad break up; Lithium is a metaphore about her trying to actually come out of her sadness "break through and be happy". She says she fell in love with her sorrow and she needed to break out of that and be in a better place; Good Enough = "Found me at peace" and she is a bit "scared of it". She wrote a song thatn "for once, wasn't miserable, stuck, trapped, or sad, or grieving". She considers it her bravest song. She is now "in love with Good Enough". She also likes that it is at the end of the albulm; Weight of the World = about what she gives to her fans. The bitter-sweetness of it all. Some fans believe she is "fixing" them with her lyrics and she doesn't want the fans to really rely on her as much as some have but to share with her her expression of what she has gone through or is going through; Snow White Queen = is also about fans but one stalker in particular. Those are the only songs she touched on in particular. All in all the album is about a lot of things. Not just about love, God, self-realization; grief (Like You is about her sister), fans, etc. The rest of the band put in their own contributions to some of the writing as well. I think all of us who love Evanescence as much as we do should just continue to enjoy their art and appreciate them sharing it with us. They are true to their work and perfomances (I just recently saw the Vegas one and WOW!!! AMAZING!!)If we can relate then we should take that for what it is and not put so much personal responsibility on them. There are a lot of songs on her I have learned I can relate too but that just helps me know I am not the only one (no pun intended) which makes me feel that much better about whatever it is! One thing's for sure - the band wouldn't want to read some of the snide comments on this page over them and people's opinions. We should share that we all love Evanescence and, like I said, continue to enjoy them.

| I think this song is about how she believes in god, because during the first verse she talks about how people have died in plane crashes, and back door out of life is suicide. And how they're not the only ones who feel that way. The part about greiving,lost, and bleeding has to do with being depressed, not knowing who u are, and if not bleeding on the outside, bleeding on the inside.In the chorus she talks about how everyone just wants sum1 to guide them through life (God). All your lies im not believing is referred to the devil and how he can trick u into doing things that are wrong. Heaven shine a light down on me, is suppose to mean how she wants heaven to protect her and keep her on the right path. The second verse has to do with how people dont want to see the torture, war, and misery thats going on in the world. Never understood this life and your right i dont deserve but u know im not the only one has to do with how she duzn't understand why she's living and she takes it for granted. thats why she doesn't deserve it and wat she has. But a lot of people also feel the same way. Dont look down, Dont look into the eyes of the world beneathe u relates to hell and the devil. Dont look down, you'll fall down has to do with giving into the devil and ending up in hell. and the rest of that verse has to do with believing in God. How she's lost without him. This is what i think the song means although i could be wrong. But the one thing im sure of is Amy lee has an amazing voice. Im a big fan and if she ever reads this i wud like to tell her she shud keep it up and although a lot of people can bring up critiscm and shit u shud ignore it cuz they're honestly jealous. In my country (Iran), no one understands much english, like my cousin for instance but shes literally got all ur songs and pictures and everything just cause u sound WONDERFUL and i mean it =] I love every single one of ur songs and i believe ur one of the greatest singers in the history of singing SO LOVE YOU AMY LEE <3 <3 <3
