the lead singer was dating a girl named Jane from elementary school up until they just started the band, Breaking Benjamin, and she got in a car accident and died. she kept a diary throughout her life and everyone thought that her boyfriend should have it so they gave it to him and he read it from front to back and was not mentioned in it once. that is why he says "I will try to find my place in the diary of Jane"
