Forse qualche anziano ancora ricorda
la violenza di un'esplosione
che rubò il futuro a tre giovani vite
nel giorno della Liberazione
Le truppe tedesche sui colli sabini
battevano la ritirata
ma la voglia ne cuore era di seminare
ancora sangue,sangue lungo la strada
E con la freddezza che ha solo un boia
minarono la via principale
che congiungeva i due paesi
per trasformarla in una trappola mortale
Ma la cosa venne saputa
da tre figli della Sabina
che armati soltanto di altruismo e coraggio
raggiunsero quella strada in collina
e grazie alla loro fatica
fu quasi del tutto liberti
quel tragitto dagli ordigni nascosti
ma il destino vigliacco attendeva in agguato
Infatti,una mina più elaborata
preparata da sapienti mani assassine
giocò loro lo scherzo più brutto
scrivendo sulla loro esistenza la parola fine
Proprio in quel punto si trova una pietra
che ricorda il loro gesto e la loro memoria
che ricorda chi è morto a vent'anni
chi è morto donando il suo nome alla storia
Se un giorno passate su quella collina
che un tempo accolse tre croci
porgete un orecchio al soffio del vento
e forse udirete le loro voci
che vogliono soltanto dire
a chiunque le ascolterà
di non dimenticare mai nessun uomo
che ha perso la vita per la libertà...
