Het is mooier als het wel rijmt. Voorbeeld:

Ik hou van jou, ik blijf je trouw
Origineel is het niet, maar het rijmt als een tiet.

Of deze:

Een struise meid uit Scheemda
Viel voorover in de Etna
Duidelijk en luid
Bracht zij nog uit:
"Heet ja!"

Naast rijm is nog van belang het metrum. Metrum heeft te maken met waar je
de
klemtonen legt in een gedicht. Ik hoorde laatst op de radio in de
Ster-reclame
de volgende zin:

'Ik ben Karin en ik heb een druk gezin'

Dat is van een heel laag niveau, Karin-gezin. Dat metrum klopt niet. Het is
van
Een veel hoger niveau om te zeggen:

'Ik ben Karin en hij moet daarin'.

Wellicht dat u zegt: "Karin - daarin, dat vind ik een beetje flauw". Maar
dan
heeft u het niet over het metrum. Want dat is ijzersterk. Dan heeft u het
over
wat anders.
Wat overigens ook wel van belang kan zijn in een gedicht.

Timing bijvoorbeeld, is ook heel erg belangrijk. Nemen we eens de timing
van het
nu volgende gedicht:

Mijn vrouw
Trok de deur dicht
Van ons huis
Aan het Acaciaplein
En liep
Naar het Riet-station
10 Minuten later
Vertrok haar trein
Richting noorderzon

Dat gedicht is zeer slecht getimed, want van het Acaciaplein naar het
Riet-station is zeker een half uur lopen...
